FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING AN INVERTER

What to look for in a replacement battery for my solar/inverter system.

Once the battery of a solar/inverter system runs out, it’s basically useless for work and becomes a monument beeping away in the corner. Find out the top 3 factors to consider when replacing your batteries.

So, we were (and still are) discussing “level up” and “the new normal” in my last article. It’s already established that we’re yet to get power supply right in Naija… in fact you can’t not put a generator (aka “gene baby”) in relocation or new home plans no matter the status. Sad reality.

When looking for replacement batteries for your solar/inverter system, 3 important things to consider are Cycle time, Capacity and of course, Price.

On Cycle times, any battery with less than 1,000 cycles is not worth purchasing as the durability of such isn’t guaranteed. We don’t want you abandoning your system again, do we? Slim type and tubular batteries generally have longer cycle times because of their elongated plates. A few block type batteries also live up to expectation without breaking the bank.

On Capacity, most systems fail to deliver even with solid batteries because of below capacity installations. Knowing your total load capacity and then basic load capacity is important to enjoying the best from your system. And we always recommend starting from basic load then scaling to total capacity. Level up! Covid is not the end of the world

I personally have heard enough gloomy news to last a decade. Don’t know about you but I’ve had enough, really. As we enter the 2nd half of what has been a most exhilarating year with myriads of bitter-sweet events at every turn, there’s this widespread feeling of exhaustion and uncertainty especially amongst career folk wondering  ‘What next?” and “Will it get worse?” and then some hidden optimism and hope in between, that this half brings a fresh start. Talk about mixed feelings. Lol

I for one haven’t been exactly sure on how to feel either… I think I’m somewhere between indifference and optimism about the events of the past few months, owing in part to a certain book I read recently (you should read it too)- How they started in tough times by David Lester; and then this knowing that the world has gone through several if not worse events in times past. And survived. Changed greatly, yes maybe, but definitely survived.  In spite of all.

On survival, did you know that great companies like Hp, Linkedin, Wikipedia and Disney (as I read) were founded in very dire times… almighty Disney was formed right in the World War era. What timing could be worse to setup a business/switch between jobs?

As professionals and career people, I believe personal and professional development should be top priority now as job cuts loom and companies adopt cost-reduction measures. As a friend always says, job cut isn’t for top talent, in fact companies need top talent as much as they seek to cut costs in tough times. Also, and maybe more importantly we should get used to working and delivering excellence from home because like it or not, that’s the new normal.

The new normal. What would this then imply for our daily activities and lifestyle? Think home office, 24hours power supply, home internet infrastructure, digital skills and e-tools, end-to-end e-commerce, e-learning and sharing, the possibilities are endless. And with new possibilities come new opportunities. That’s the way of the world. The cycle repeats.

Did I hear a smirk at 24hour power supply? In Nigeria? Well yeah. It’s real and working (not by conventional means of course). And it’s here to stay… dey there o.
